This policy explains what information is collected when you use mortgagerecastcalculators.com ("the site", "we", "us"), who collects it, and the choices you have. The short version: we do not run accounts or sign-up forms, the calculator does its math on your device, and the site uses two Google services, Google Analytics to measure traffic and Google AdSense to show ads, both of which use cookies.

Calculator inputs

The recast calculator runs in your browser. Loan balances, interest rates, lump sums, and the other numbers you type are processed on your device and are never sent to a server we operate or stored by us. Our methodology page describes the math.

To make results shareable, the calculator writes your inputs into the page address (the part of the URL after the ?). Because analytics and advertising scripts receive the address of the page they run on, those numbers can be included in the page URL sent to Google. They are loan figures, not your name, email, or account number, and we never ask for personal or account details in the calculator. If you share a link, anyone who opens it can see the numbers in it.

Information you send us

There are no user accounts, newsletters, or forms. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and we use it only to reply and, for corrections, to fix the page. We keep that correspondence only as long as needed to handle it and do not add you to any list.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. This site sets no cookies of its own. The cookies described below are set by Google for analytics and advertising. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the calculator works without them.

Analytics: Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how visitors find the site. It uses cookies (such as _ga) to collect information like the pages you view, how long you stay, the referring site, your device and browser type, and your approximate location (city or region level). Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We use this information in aggregate only, to decide what to improve, and we do not combine it with anything that identifies you. Analytics data is retained for no longer than 14 months.

You can opt out of Google Analytics on every site by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising: Google AdSense

The site is funded by display advertising served by Google AdSense. Ads help keep the calculator and guides free.

Ads do not influence our content

Advertisers do not pay for, review, or shape anything we publish. Which ads appear is decided by Google's systems, not by us, so an ad for a lender, refinance, or financial product is not a recommendation or endorsement, and we have not vetted it. Our lender figures come only from the servicers' own documents, as described on our about page. We do not run affiliate links or sponsored content.

Visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you are shown a consent message, provided through Google's certified consent management tools, before cookies are used for personalized advertising. You can accept, refuse, or manage your choices there, and you can change them later by clearing this site's cookies, which brings the message back. Where you refuse, Google serves non-personalized ads. The legal basis for analytics and personalized advertising cookies is your consent; you may withdraw it at any time. You also have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Because we do not hold analytics or advertising data in a form tied to your identity, requests about that data are best directed to Google through the links above.

US state privacy rights

We do not sell personal information for money. Under some US state privacy laws, including California's, allowing advertising cookies to be used for personalized ads may count as "selling" or "sharing" personal information. You can opt out of that use with the Ads Settings and aboutads.info links above, or by blocking third-party cookies in your browser. Where these laws require it, Google's tools may also show you a privacy message with an opt-out option.

Children's privacy

This site is about mortgages and is intended for adults. It is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA and UK), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Hosting and server logs

The site is served through Cloudflare. Like virtually every hosting provider, Cloudflare processes standard request data, such as IP address, browser user agent, requested URL, and time, to deliver pages and protect the site against abuse. We do not use this data to identify or profile visitors.

Changes to this policy

When our practices change, we update this page and the effective date above. Material changes are stated here plainly, not buried.
